Newsletter for June 23, 2010

Editor's Note

Hi, everyone in Red Rock Rotary!

This first issue of our newsletter is coming to you a bit early, due to my absence for the next three weeks.  Beginning on July 19, I intend to deliver the newsletter to you by e-mail on Monday of each week.  If you do not wish to receive it, by all means contact me and I will remove you from the list.

I hope that this newsletter will enhance the value of membership in Red Rock Rotary.  This goal will be greatly advanced if I can count on your help.  If you have news about yourself, or anyone else in the group, or have heard of something that you think will benefit the membership, please send it to me.  My e-mail address is bcampbell@argusstrategies.com.  You can always look me up on the website if you forget.

Thanks in advance for your help and support.  Comments and suggestions for improvement are of course welcome.

Bruce

Food for Thought

I never worry about yesterday.  The only important thing is tomorrow's game.

Upcoming Programs

Program for June 30, 2010 - Presentation of Paul Harris Fellowships

As you all know, the recognition of our Club's Paul Harris fellows for the year just ending has been delayed.  John Anderson's persistent work has finally untied all the bureaucratic knots, and the fellows for 2009-2010 will be recognized in our last meeting of the Rotary year.

Program for July 7, 2010 - Installation Breakfast

Come one, come all to hear Lil's valedictory and welcome Jeremy Hill and the new Board of Directors into office for the 2010-2011 year.

Program for July 14, 2010 - Our Returning YouthLink Student

BreeAnna Carver, the student whom we supported through YouthLink this past year, has returned from her sojourn in Thailand and will report to us on her adventures.

Lil Barron Finishes Her Term as Red Rock President

All members of Red Rock Rotary want to extend their congratulations and appreciation to Lil Barron for the fine job she has done as our Club President over the past year.  Thanks to Lil's grace and diligence, our Club has come through a difficult year in fine shape and our future looks bright!

John Olsen Takes on the Roadrunners

Kudos to John Olson for volunteering to assist the Saint George Roadrunners baseball team in their attempt to make professional baseball viable in Saint George.  Resplendent in his brand-new Roadrunners uniform, John explained today that crowds have been averaging around 400 in the early part of the season, but the club needs 1200 to make a go of it.  John has developed a marketing program that will put Raodrunner materials into every hotel room and on every restaurant table in the city, inviting patrons to attend a game.  Combine that with a possible beer garden at the stadium and we can look forward to professional baseball in Saint George for years to come.
