At yesterday's meeting, for the Rotary minute, John Olsen talked about clubs in the Tucson, AZ area that sponsor a bike race to raise money in support of Rotary's efforts to eradicate polio. It was another example of Rotarians being a gift to the world.
After leading us in another rousing round of horseplay, President Elect, Tim Welsh, gave a summary of the recent President Elect Training Seminar (PETS).
For the program, Tim (who is also the current club Foundation Chair) talked about the club's foundation and current grant process. The club voted to support the foundation board recommendations to award 12 grants totaling a little less than $6,000. Since 2007, the foundation has granted nearly $60,000 to about 30 non-profit groups involved in supporting children and youth in Washington County.
To those of you who weren't there, we missed you!
