We inducted our newest member Carrie Haas (who is also member #30!).
We discussed the 9/16 and 10/6 board meetings.
The board held a special meeting on 9/16 to go over club funding options which were presented to the club on 10/7. The board is looking at possible ways to close the gap on club operating expenses and put more funds into the club’s foundation. Options include:
- No change in dues or meal costs (which are the club’s single biggest expense).
- Change venues and go to a less expensive cold breakfast.
- Increase dues.
Members were given the opportunity to express their preference for each option in writing at the meeting. Members who were not present were sent the summary table by email and asked to return it to President Scott or email him with their preference by 10/21.
We discussed the Dictionary Project for which the club received a district grant of $800. We will order the dictionaries and print the labels with a goal of placing the labels in the dictionaries at the 11/11 club meeting and delivering them to the schools before Thanksgiving.
We will be holding a work day at Shivwits on either 11/7 or 11/14 depending on availability of DSU student volunteers.
Egor discussed the Endowment Fund options for donating to the RI Foundation through your estate. There are two types of donors – Bequest Society (those who leave $10,000 or more) and Benefactors (those who leave any amount less than $10,000). Please see Egor if you are interested as this is an easy way to donate to the RI Foundation.
Finally, Lil gave a car show update. We are back to the drawing board on the site/venue as the city is selling the Ridgetop Complex.
Those of you who weren’t there, we missed you!
