    - None

New Member applicants - none at the moment

New Member Inductees - none

Member Departures - none this week.

Theme – Family of Rotary

  • A number of Red Rock members attended the All Clubs Meeting on 10/20/14 to do some networking with Rotarians from other clubs in Washington County.

  • Biff, the incoming president of DSU, gave a presentation on his vision of St George becoming a university town and DSU being an integral part of the community – our club can attest that having a university in St George is awesome – we used their volunteer group for the Shivwitz project and it made our work a lot easier.

Horse Play – Frank entertained us all and led a great banter between members.

Presentation – vocational presentation by Mike Empey

  • Mike talked about his 24 years on Ogden police force rising from young recruit to chief of police.  As some of us knew Ogden was a hotbed of hooliganism – drinking, thieving, prostitution and murders – not something you would think of a Utah town.

  • Then Mike talked about his second career as mayor of Leeds and his third career as congressional staffer for Congressman Matheson – both of these are thankless jobs – no matter what you do, somebody does not like you for it.  Only somebody of Mike’s demeanor (a very calm, level headed gentleman could handle these jobs with the steady hand).

  • Our hat is off to Mike for a great career and a well-deserved retirement

Upcoming dates:

    - October 24/25, Friday (12pm-7pm)/Saturday (10am-5pm), Red Rock Rotary booth at Spookytown/Taste of Dixie - come dressed in a Halloween costume

Members that were not there, we missed you.

Those of you not yet members of our club - you are missing out on being a contributor to a better place to live locally and globally.  Come join us and find food for your soul through volunteer activities.
